SECCHI Consortium Meetings
There have been 6 SECCHI consortium meetings, most with topics pertinent to space weather or with separate space weather sessions.
-
1st SECCHI consortium meeting at Easton, MD, November 2000
-
2nd SECCHI consortium meeting at Abingdon, UK, July 2001
-
3rd SECCHI consortium meeting at Stanford Univ., Palo Alto, CA, September 10-11, 2002. We had a successful half-day "kickoff" session on Space Weather at this meeting. The Agenda was revised at the meeting in near realtime, and contains links to some of the presentations. These Initial Tasks or Action Items came out of our discussions.
-
4th SECCHI Consortium Meeting in Brussels, Belgium, April 2003. We had a science session featuring first results from SMEI and HI status and simulation efforts. We also had a SWx session with this agenda and action items. Also more HI talks on their general use in space weather, as a forecast tool, and in the Beacon; forecasting storms and SEPs by Bothmer; developing Beacon software by Wang with these downlink options.
-
5th SECCHI Consortium Meeting in Oxnard, CA, April 2004. No SWx session but some nice HI talks on science ops and simulations and a Beacon update by Thompson.
-
6th SECCHI consortium meeting at GMU, Fairfax, VA, October 2005. We had discussions about Beacon operations and a SWx session with discussions on updating the SWx website, what NOAA desires from each STEREO instrument including the Beacon and how they plan to use Beacon data, refining the Tools and Projects list, interfacing STEREO SWx with “outside” groups, campaigns, etc.
STEREO Science Working Group (SWG) Meetings
At the Dec 15-16, 2003 SWG at the Space Sciences Laboratory in Berkeley, CA, there was a session on the Beacon with talks by Biesecker and Matthews.
At the March 22, 2004 SWG at the NOAA Space Environment Center, Boulder Colorado, there was another Beacon talk by Biesecker.
At the December 18, 2004 SWG at the Space Sciences Laboratory in Berkeley, CA, there was another Beacon talk by Biesecker and a SWx Group session led by Biesecker and Webb.
At the SEE STEREO: Science, Education and 3D-Exploration meeting held 2-3 May 2005 at the Hamburg Planetarium, Hamburg, Germany, there was an SWG SWx session led by Biesecker. The agenda, projects, Beacon update, and the Pizzo and Biesecker model were presented by Biesecker. There were other talks by D. Berghmans, M. Pick, C. Russell on Data Browsers for STEREO, E. Robbrecht on CACTus performance on STEREO beacon-data, O. Podladchikova on EUV dimmings M. Kaiser on SWAVES and Space Weather plan, and F. Jansen on the MuSTAnG Space Weather Muon Telescope.
At the March 27-28, 2007 SWG in Greenbelt, MD there was an SWx Group update by Webb.
At the Nov 13-14, 2007 SWG in Pasadena, CA there was an SWx Group update by Webb.
STEREO Workshops or Related Meetings
The first NASA STEREO workshop was held March 18-20, 2002 in Paris. The workshop website has many items of interest for space weather: First STEREO Workshop
At the December, 2004 Fall AGU Special Session on “Preparing for the Solar STEREO Mission: The 3D, Time-dependent Heliosphere from Models and Observations”, Biesecker and Webb presented a poster on STEREO Space Weather.
At the STEREO/ Solar-B Science Planning Workshop at Turtle Bay, Oahu, Hawaii on November 15-18, 2005, there were talks on the Beacon by Biesecker and a session on combining in-situ and image data led by Webb.
